Our Mission
Reclaiming space. Realizing opportunity. Revitalizing community.
FOUNDING STORY
With shared backgrounds in food, wine, and horticulture, Christopher Renfro and Jannea Tschirch have been bringing people together — from farm to table — their entire lives.
In 2019, Christopher and Jannea founded The Two Eighty Project to increase equity and diversity within the wine industry — and access to the spaces occupied by it. They began their work at Alemany Farms, a public park in San Francisco, originally dedicated to giving inner-city individuals the space to practice urban community gardening. As the nature of the space, industry, and city have grown increasingly exclusive, it’s become increasingly urgent to reclaim and revitalize them for the local community.
The Two Eighty Project is dedicated to building a sustainable food and wine community that nourishes every member of the local economy and ecosystem.
Issues and Solutions
-
From Displacement
San Francisco has become a hub for exclusive spaces and industries that are increasingly disconnected from its origins. Communities, largely low-income and BIPOC, have been pushed out of spaces and neighborhoods they used to call home.
-
To Revitalization
We envision a world where equity and diversity drive the food and wine industry — from farm to table. Together, we’re revitalizing San Francisco as a cultural epicenter for sustainable wine, businesses, and community spaces.
-
From Destruction
A long history of civic injustice (e.g. highway construction, redlining, gentrification, environmental degradation, etc.) has made it impossible for these communities to thrive to their full potential in San Francisco. Furthermore, a transient and rapidly changing urban environment makes it challenging for people to understand and invest in civic areas of need.
-
To Investment
We’re normalizing mutual learning, mutual aid, and mutual growth — inviting everyone to contribute whatever they can to lifting their collective community.
-
From Exclusion
Though these communities have driven the success of many restaurants and vineyards, the industry remains notoriously cost-prohibitive and homogeneous. The people who work the land often aren’t the same people who profit from it, and minorities (especially BIPOC & LGBTQ) continue to be excluded from positions of leadership.
-
To Ownership
At The Two Eighty Project, we envision a world where every member of San Francisco can reach their full potential — not only by participating in local viticulture, but by building sustainable lifestyles and communities through it.

With your support, The Two Eighty Project will provide education training, resources for Viticulture apprentices to prepare for job opportunities and careers as future winemakers. As the saying goes: many hands make the work light. Together we can make an impact to diversify the Wine industry and provide educational and financial opportunities for tomorrow's wine makers.
